BA in Sports Management & Communications (Univ. of Michigan, Ann Arbor)
Life changed when I became a mom. I put 100% of my energy into raising my daughter and for many years, I was doing it alone. Like many women, I put my own happiness and health on the back burner, but was so busy I didn't even have time to notice! After a good decade of moving through life like a zombie - simply checking things off of to-do lists - I realized that I felt terrible. I was suffering from extreme anxiety attacks, regular fatigue, and a general lack of purpose. I just wanted to feel good again. So I took on the mantra of "Better at 40 than 30" and started looking for ways to heal myself. In 2016, I wandered into a CrossFit class as a "wing-woman" with a friend who wanted to try it, but was intimidated. I knew absolutely nothing about it, and the first week was ROUGH, but I was totally hooked.
Motivation & Passion
I'm not a coach (yet), but I want to talk to everyone that thinks they can't do CrossFit. YOU CAN. After 3 years of doing it myself, you will still see me struggling in the gym, but it's a beautiful struggle and I certainly wouldn't trade it for my couch. It's not just about the exercise... this community is everything to me. We work hard together, but we also have fun together. We look after each other's kids (even the furry ones) and we are all modeling positive goal setting for our own kids. I look in the mirror and still see flaws, but I am so proud of myself for the progress I've made. I feel strong, healthy and accomplished. Every single person deserves to feel that!!!
