About Coach

Fitness has always been a big part of my life. I was a part of the high school swim team and played competitive soccer traveling throughout the midwest. After finishing high school and heading off to college I decided it was time for something new in the area of health and fitness. I had never lifted weights much with the sports I played in high school, so I thought I would give that a try. I started out just going to the Rec Center and lifting weights on my own but saw very few results not knowing proper technique or having a program to follow. I ended up getting introduced to the P90X program. I saw some results with this, however, after a couple of months I started to become bored and unmotivated doing the same thing every week. A fitness journey entered my life shortly after this.

Turning Point

In May 2012 I went back home from college for the summer and ended up working at a restaurant. It was a lot of late nights which usually led to also sleeping in late. My mom was a Trainer at Mitten Fitness at the time and had actually been attempting to convince me to try it out for almost a year (Mom knows best) but I had never done a class workout before and didn't think I would enjoy it. After about a month home I found out about a morning class that would be great to get me out of bed in the morning and start my day on the right foot. I started my foundations that week and was hooked after my first class. The intensity, variety, and community are what made me fall in love with fitness and keep me coming back for more. Not only has it improved my fitness more than I could have ever imagined, but my nutrition has also improved every year. Fitness helped me see nutrition differently and now I can't imagine going back to my old ways of eating. What started as something to simply get me out of bed in the morning has completely changed my life. I am the healthiest and fittest I have ever been in my life.

Motivation & Passion

As a coach, what I love about fitness the most is the community. The community at Mitten Fitness really is something special. Every week I get to help the members here better themselves when they walk through those doors. This isn't a gym full of elite athletes, but rather everyday people with the goal to come in and be a little bit better than yesterday. I love the fact that I get to be a part of the journey with members towards things they never thought possible, whether it's getting their first pull-up, or running half a mile for the first time.
