From the Coach’s Eye about Open 17.1 and 17.2

Can you feel the excitement and buzz going around CrossFit Dexter? I sure can and it is awesome. We have 54 people who signed up for the Open and 4 awesome teams who are participating in the Intramural Open. Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays have been an absolute blast. I have had many people say to me that this is the most fun they have had at CrossFit and that they are happy they signed up even though they had their fears and doubts. Open 17.1 tested your mental fortitude and forced you to make it as far as you can through what we call the suck! You all embraced the suck and rocked it. If I had a dollar for everyone who came up to me and said “Hutch, I can’t lift that weight, I have never done that much before”, I would received about 50 dollars. Open 17.1 brought tears of joy to some which I have been there many of times, so to see it happen, makes me so proud. There were tons of hugs, cheers, and sweat to go around. I was in awe at the amount of support you all gave each other.

Open 17.2 brought it to another level. This was one that forced a lot of people out of their comfort zones and pushed people to just give it their all no matter what. When that happens, the human body can and will do remarkable things. There were so many first pull-ups and muscle-ups that occurred during 17.2 weekend. We shook the walls down at CrossFit Dexter with all the cheering. I am so proud of all of you who took this workout by storm and put your best foot forward a whole lot of times. Torn hands, sore legs, and a clear mind is what came out in the end of this workout. It gives us a base to set some long term goals for the rest of the year.

The Intramural Open has been so much fun, way more than I could ever imagine. When the idea came up, I was thinking maybe we would have 25 +/- a few and that the Open season would be just a bit more fun than previous years.. Well the captains and all of you have stepped up your games and this has turned out to be some of the most fun and exciting times at CrossFit Dexter. This is what it is all about. Pushing yourself harder and further than you ever thought you could with this amazing people supporting and cheering. Sure it takes you out of the comfort zone, which it should, but I know in my heart and soul that all of you who have been participating are feeling amazing about what you have done thus far. You all should be so proud of yourselves, I sure am proud to be a part of this amazing place.

Lets keep up the excitement and buzz for the next few weeks. I look forward to tearing up 17.3, 17.4, 17.5 and the CFD Intramural Open Secret 17.6 with you all.

Until Next Time,

Coach Hutch
